Noémie Baumann is a French visual artist with Italian and Eastern European roots. After living in New York, Berlin, Milan, Moscow and Paris, she is now based in Nice. 

Initially fascinated by the rigour of architecture, she turned to the organic forms of nature, finding in the sea a living muse whose essence she seeks to capture. The ocean has become for her a space that is both poetic and political, a territory for contemplation as much as a call to preserve this world in perpetual motion.

Photography is a starting point for Noémie. What drives her is the exploration of thresholds: between image and object, between film and digital, between two-dimensional and three-dimensional, between real and imaginary, between visible and invisible, between representation and matter.

By combining techniques and playing with media and presentation devices, she seeks to offer a perceptive, almost immersive experience, where the image reveals itself in a different way — in space, in movement, in presence.
